All students must bring their own tools and materials for practical, hands-on training sessions.

🧠 1. Mannequin & Preparation Equipment

  • Canvas mannequin head (preferably with hair for braiding/install practice)

  • Adjustable tripod stand / clamp stand

  • T-pins (essential for sectioning and securing work)

  • Measuring tape

  • Spray bottle (for water or detangling solution)

🪮 2. Combs, Brushes & Sectioning Tools (ESSENTIAL)

  • Tail comb / rat-tail comb (precision parting & sectioning)

  • Wide-tooth comb (detangling)

  • Medium-tooth styling comb (general styling)

  • Braiding comb (for clean, neat partings)

  • Fine-tooth comb (sleek finishing & smoothing)

🖌️ Brushes

  • Paddle brush (detangling & smoothing)

  • Denman or styling brush (blow-drying & definition)

  • Edge brush / spoolie brush (laying edges & baby hairs)

📎 Grips & Sectioning Accessories

  • Sectioning clips (duckbill or crocodile clips)

  • Butterfly clips (for holding larger sections)

  • Hair grips / salon pins (for securing styled sections)

  • Small elastic bands (for braiding & ponytails)

  • Hair clamps (optional for thick hair sections)

  • Hair cutting scissors

  • Small trimming scissors (optional)

  • Sectioning clips (reinforced use across styling)

  • Detangling brush (backup tool)

🧵 4. Braiding & Sectioning Tools

  • Braiding comb (if not included above)

  • Edge control brush (for neat finishes)

  • Hair bands / elastics

  • Hair grips

  • Curved weaving needles

  • Black weaving thread (strong, professional grade)

  • Brown weaving thread (optional for lighter hair tones)

  • Flat irons / straighteners

  • Curling wand or curling tongs

  • Handheld blow dryer

  • Hot comb (highly recommended for sleek finishes)

  • Heat protectant spray

  • Mousse (for braids, curls, and setting styles)

  • Edge control gel

  • Hair oil or serum

  • Holding spray / hairspray

  • Leave-in conditioner or detangling spray

  • Phone tripod (for recording techniques)
